OUR STORY
Many years ago, the proPIEter of Divine Pie—Alissa Martucci—got hooked on making pies during a raw food cleanse. Desperate for something decadent that fit those strict alkalizing rules, she began experimenting with different nuts, dates and fruits trying to satisfy her sweet tooth with a dessert that was simultaneously rich, creamy and raw...not an easy task! After many gooey crusts, floppy fillings, inadequate blenders and broken food processors, she finally achieved the perfect pie: the one that could convert even the staunchest gluten-, dairy- and sugar-loving foodies into raw pie enthusiasts.
The pies got their first exposure to the public taste bud when they were sold at small food carts and events around town. After countless special orders and requests, Alissa decided to try the pies out at the Portland Farmers market and sold out on the first day! Within 6 months of their debut, the pies were featured on the Food Network’s popular show “Unique Sweets”, and since then the pies have continued to grown in popularity and availability with new flavors being dreamed up on a regular basis!
OUR INGREDIENTS
If these pies are gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free, then what on earth is in them that makes them so amazingly delicious?! An alchemical reaction of air, magic and love? Well, yes, but we also use the best ingredients we can find, and when you start with high quality ingredients, you can't help but end up with an amazing product. The pie crusts are made with naturally grown nuts from the pacific northwest, so there's never any grains for you gluten-free pie lovers out there. The fillings are made creamy with delicious blends of fruits, nuts, fresh young coconut meat and organic, raw, virgin coconut oil—replacing the dairy with nutrient dense ingredients that are easy on the body. All the pies are sweetened with either raw agave or dates which are low glycemic alternatives to sugar that leave you feeling energized and nourished. And as if that weren't enough goodness, these pies also happen to be a raw food product! When foods are not heated above 118 degrees, they retain the natural enzymes needed to properly digest them, and all the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients present in these unrefined ingredients are easily absorbed by the body.
